Independent Living Units

Over the past year, the Shire of Boyup Brook has been actively exploring the potential development of Independent Living Units (ILUs) to better serve our senior community members. This initiative aims to offer older residents the option to remain in Boyup Brook, close to family and friends, while maintaining their independence and benefiting from proximity to medical and community services.

The Shire, in collaboration with the Community Resource Centre (CRC), is calling for expressions of interest from the local community. This process is designed to gauge public support for the proposed development. The call for expressions of interest will include draft floor plans for two and three-bedroom units, giving community members the opportunity to choose their preferred design.

The feedback collected from this exercise is crucial for the Shire. It will inform the next phase of the project, which involves developing a comprehensive business case to assess the feasibility and benefits of the ILUs. The proposed units are envisioned as a way to enhance the quality of life for Boyup Brook’s seniors, ensuring they have access to suitable living arrangements within the community they cherish.

We value your opinion and are asking all residents aged 60 years and over to complete the survey.  The survey can be found HERE.

This initiative underscores the Shire’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community for all age groups, ensuring that Boyup Brook remains a desirable place to live for everyone.
